Fitness Rx is an integrated fitness performance, pain treatment and movement therapy clinic. It was founded by Sonya McVay-Straub in Sonoma County, CA in 2014. The Fitness Rx team is comprised of practitioners with backgrounds in performance sports and credentials in various kinds of kinesiology and sports therapies. We offer sports performance training, acute therapies, movement pattern retraining and manual release treatment. When treating clients with chronic pain or general chronic pathologies, our staff looks at how to improve on the bodies’ motor patterning and give the persons individual neurology the best chance to thrive.

The Fitness Rx front office is graced with the administrative and customer service skills of Alex Pacheco. Alex enjoys Hip-Hop and Jazz dance. She’s also enjoys making YouTube tutorials and spending time with her close-knit family. She grew up watching Sonya transform her career and her passion for helping others and joined the team in 2019. Alex thrives in supporting the life changing services performed daily at Fitness Rx.
Starting her training career in 1998, Jean-Marie is a master trainer, having delivered over 10,000 hours of in-person training time. Her experience ranges from corporate markets in the US to inter-cultural work in Canada, Holland, Africa and the Middle East. Jean founded Yellow Marker with the vision of bringing character and values to the foreground in the commercial sector. She develops and co-authors training materials and resources for her corporate clients as well as several non-profit and humanitarian organizations. Her specialties include leadership development, culture change and communication/team building.
Kelly started her career in the service and hospitality industries. Earning her Bachelors of Arts in Industrial Design from San Francisco State University in 2008, she went on to work in product design and marketing. Kelly has an entrepreneurial heart and has founded two local service companies while her designs and inventions focus on adaptability, functionality and sustainability. She joined the Fitness Rx team on her own road to recovery after several injuries and a major trauma. She serves as chief project manager and works to shine the light on the high-quality and effective kind of care and healing that Fitness Rx offers.
